Gorgeous Blue Agave is a large member of the succulent family. Plant these in a sunny location protected from freezing temperatures. They will thrive and shine in well draining pots or containers or in a variety of well drained soil types. Easy, fun and big impact, the Chrysanthemum is a southern late summer bloomers that take us into fall with their great star blooms and brilliant colors. Always water mums at the base of the plant and keep them watered everyday for the best success. Use in a bright light indoors and outside during the warmer months. Great container plant in conjunction with other light and water needs or as a single specimen. Has a gorgeous red flower with green and white variegated plump leaves/foliage. Prefers dry soil.  

Dusty Miller, Silverdust is a great addition to Sun or Part Sun to Shade Containers. It is such a gorgeous care free silver-white textured leafy plant that will set off other annual and perennial flowers. It also looks great in shade planters with coleus and blade leaf plants, really sets off just about anything you plant it near or beside. It can also be used as a border plant to accent in ground plants. Plant in full sun to full shade. Drought tolerant once established. Will overwinter in some areas.

This is a great looking true green sedum that is one of the first to appear in early spring, forming great bright yellow blooms later in the spring into summer. Less is more with these guys. Truly drought tolerant and loves good drainage and will handle poor soils. 

Flowering Kale is a surprising show stopper! The colder it gets the more flare and color the rosette shaped plant becomes. Plant in Sun or part shade and provide ample water with good drainage. You can slowly water through the leaves and they will carry it to the base or use a watering can to direct the flow to reach the base. Great fall winter big bang choice!

Grown by Memory Barrow,  a Columbiana Resident and Avid Gardner, these ornamental peppers are just too Hot! They look great in containers, each plant taking on its own shape. Pop them in a basket and they make great gifts handling both part sun to full sun water regular with good draining soil. Can withstand light frost.

Considered a cool season annual, Pansies are a classic go to colorful choice to spruce up containers, beds, window boxes and borders. Full sun to part sun will even do okay in shade. Just easy breezy! Keep watered with good drianing soil.

This Sedge has a more yellow hue than ice dance with creamy white in the center of d green margins. Free flowing and versatile they look great tucked in a pot as well as in rock gardens, an accent to perennials, or as a 'border grass'.  Thrives best with adequate water and well drained soil with part sun to full shade. Will know this spring if it is a perennial in our area. Fingers crossed, it's bold and fabulous!

Paper Whites are easy to grow flowers start in a simple water base (or soil) and send out green shoots that will bloom into small showy white fragrant flowers. Simply fill a container with  water  and keep topped off, just make sure to place in indirect bright light and rotate around as they grow. Store dry bulbs indoors in a dark place until ready to plant. Bulbs take approximately 4-6 weeks to flower so plant according to when you would like them in bloom. You can plant them in the ground after indoor use and enjoy them year after year.

Primula acaulis. This is an elegant bicolor Flowering Primrose that are cool season perennials that thrive with fertile well drained soils and part shade. They will perform indoors, as well, with bright indirect light and plenty of water with good drainage. They are freeze sensitive, so if planting outdoors, provide some protection from freeze and plant somewhere you can give it a chance to return as a perennial in your garden.

Ruellia elegans 'Brazilian Red' is a great attractor and natural food source for hummingbirds passing through. Easy to care for drought tolerant sun lover, Ruellia will become a summer staple in your garden. Use anywhere and everywhere. Plants will reach up to 16-20 inches tall to 20-24 inches wide. Perennial in warmer areas of zones 8-10. Gorgeous vibrant red trumpet shaped flowers with true lucious green stems and leaves. This plant alone will its vibrant red will draw hummingbirds near as well as offer a natural food for them on their journey. Great easy care plant. 

Salvia Leucantha is a great  summer blooming perennial that is both heat and drought tolerant as well as a hummingbird Favorite. Naturally feed the wildlife with this gorgeous work horse salvia. Perennial in zones 8-10. Purple to lavender color spoke like blooms on long stems with gray green leaves. Minimal water once established.

Salvia Vista Red is a great annual to attract hummingbirds and butterflies to your home and garden. It's that simple. This vibrant, intense red will draw them right in plus provide a natural food source while you snap that perfect photo. Sun to part sun and provide regular watering. Grows 10-12 " tall. 

Lemon Thyme, Thymus citriodoras is a wonderful perennial to evergreen aromatic and flavorful cooking herb. Both a great filler and spiller in pots, this herb can be used as an ornamental plant in containers or in ground as a ground cover as well. Add to hanging baskets, large mixed containers with other annuals and perennials to add texture, aroma and character. Will last through light frost and very drought tolerant. This is big bang for your buck as useful plant that you can add seasoning to your favorite recipes. !

Perennial Shrub, this multi-variegated Hibiscus is so colorful and the red bloom to die for! Looks great as a feature plant in containers and if you can find a nestled safe place in your garden, makes for a great perennial shrub full of pollinating insect butterfly and hummingbird action! Full to part sun. Regular watering. 

Good old Vinca is at it again with its timely summer and late season blooms. Great full sun plant with lots of action and gorgeous delicate yet waxy true green leaves. Looks great with everything! Full to part sun. regular watering . Annual 

Aucuba Gold Dust, Aucuba japonica 'Variegata', Spotted Laurel, Shade Evergreen Shrub, Drought Tolerant Yellow and Green Speckled Shrub. This is a gorgeous brightly waxed leaf shade loving shrub. Aucuba Gold Dust can handle full shade to part sun and is extremely drought tolerant once it is established. It adds a unique foliage to dark spaces and will slowly grow into a large shrub although it is easy to keep it at any desired height. Just an easy and unique plant! Water regular until established.

Great indoor plants and in the shade outdoors in mild climates, Boston ferns need a cool place with high humidity and indirect light.  Check the soil daily and make sure to give it some water if the soil feels at all dry. Soil should feel damp, yet well drained. Make sure to bring them into a protected area in the winter months and they will act as a super versatile evergreen.

Carex morrowii 'Ice Dance', Japanese Sedge, Green with Cream Margins, Bright Deer Resistant Evergreen Ground Cover. Slow spreading by rhizomes with long (12 to 15 inch) arching blades can be used in containers, or as a slow spreading ground cover in the shade to part shade and rock gardens. Best in zones 5-8 and can handle more sun in cooler climates. This Carex is rich and sophisticated and has a slight curl to its blades as they reach longer lengths. It accents so many different types of plants, you'll be digging it up to use in planters! 

And sometimes called the tractor seat plant is usually grown in borders or containers for its Giant, bold, shiny foliage. Great for use around ponds and streams as long as the roots don't stay constantly wet. Use as an accent plant with moisture locking soil in part shade or indoor bright indirect light. Blooms Early Fall to winter. Yellow daisy like flowers form a loose spray. Average height is 2 feet wide and tall and up to 36" in height. Considered an evergreen herbaceous perennial, native to Japan, Keeping its leaves to about 20 degrees F. They will probably suffer leaf damage below freezing but treat as a perennial in that case. MAKE Wonderful Easy Care HOUSE PLANTS. As well as a great looking Patio plant in pots or containers. Protect from sun in warm climates. They are really considered a shade plant. Hardy Zones 7-10 but best in 8 and 9. Definitely keep these protected from the elements as you watch them grow.

Glossy leaves Paper Plant, Japanese Aralia, Fatsia is a broadleaf evergreen shrub or small tree that has the appearance of a tropical plant with its huge leaves. Place in a protected site as the leaves will brown if exposed to full sun or wind. Grown in a pot it can be on a shady patio in the summer. This plant can also be grown as a houseplant.  Grows best in acidic, well-drained organically rich soil but tolerates sandy and clay soils.  It tolerates drought once established.  Prune it any time of year to maintain shape and fertilize regularly except in the winter when it is not growing.

Japanese painted ferns (Athyrium niponicum)  is a deciduous fern that has multi-colors of sliver to blue green frons with a deep dark red to purple stem. It will stand out in the shade and its unique texture is so neat to play around with and pair with other shade perennials. Just a conversation plant all the way around. Also pretty cool to photograph! They prefer shade with some morning sun or dappled sunlight in rich compost organice material. 

Does Great in Both Shade and Sun, so versatile, highly textured and a true green that ignites other plants. Use as a feature hanging pot or set on the ground as a backdrop to other plants, furniture or decor. Use it 3 times a year and then keep sheltered in a carport, garage or porch through the cold snaps of winter. This will keep your foliage protected and let you keep using it over and over! Full Shade to full sun, plenty of water if in full sun.

This is 'Goldstrum' Black-Eyed Susan, a classic looking yellow perfect yellow with deep romantic blue green leaves. Full Sun to part sun returning perennial that attracts butterflies. Snow-N-Summer Snow-N-Summer Jasmine, Tricolor Asian Jasmine, Tricolor Star Jasmine 'Tricolor'. Still learning about this little beauty... This is a multi-colored trailing and draping colorful vine that seems to prefer part sun but will tolerate shade and GOOD DRAINAGE with adequate water. This is just one of the most beautiful plants around, although it does have a yellow bloom, its foliage is the star! Great as a filler and spiller in containers. Has both upright growth and long runners. New growth seems to hold the lighter colors, pinks and marbled whites, try trimming the runners back to encourage new growth. In fall, winter/early spring they will be more burgundy and bronze with coarser leaves. The softer lighter colors will emerge with new spring growth. If using in the ground, know that Asiatic jasmine spreads by runners and can be very prolific if in the right environment. It can climb and thrive. Use in a contained area for erosion control, etc. Zones 7-10 ish?

Angel Wings, Senecio candicans is a bold, soft, white to blue colored textural leafy plant that looks great with anything and everything! This is a must have for the container gardener. This silver fuzzy foliage is similar in boldness and pair ability to dusty miller, yet much bolder in effect with the large foliage and tight curled, ribbed edge of the plant. Mondo Grass, Ophiopogon Regular Mondo, Evergreen Grass-like Contrasting Ground Cover, Low growing drought tolerant Ground cover. Super Versatile and great for making huge impacts in design Regular Mondo is a deep green 6 to 8 inch max in height. A beautiful option for a slow spreading grass-like cover under trees (where many plants will not grow), as a border plant, and even surprising in container gardens to give a contrasty deep green grass-like texture. Easy Care Liriope Muscari 'Big Blue' common name Monkey Grass is a gorgeous grass-like semi-evergreen drought-tolerant mounding plant with year round interest. It is great to use in borders or in mass groupings to create a contrasting texture and dark green color. It is a care-free and hardy landscape plant that can be used to border beds or in mixed groupings to add an interesting texture and contrast.

This easy to grow low growing plant works great in dense shade areas that are typically hard to grow areas like under trees, wet areas, etc. This is an elegant spreading ground cover that is drought tolerant once established. It stays low to the ground with interesting waxy leaves with a bit of toothed texture towards the ends. Can handle moist soil as well and loves organic matter like leaf break down which is also a benefit for under the canopy of trees. Evergreen Zones 4-8

Garden Basil is a must have for everyone! It is just so aromatic and will almost inspire your next meal, just one of those herbs that whispers what to cook! Grow in full to part sun, containers or in the ground with good draining soil and regular watering, not as drought tolerant as most herbs. Pick and use leaves as needed. 

This is a mixed variety of autumn color broom corn for use in fall displays. Great fun summer project for kids to both learn to grow corn plants as well as follow it to harvest to use in fall and winter months.  Also, just a neat addition to a garden for fall and winter interest. Plants average 8-9 feet tall. Plant as you would regular eating corn. You will have to research it on your own. This is my first year to grow it in my garden. 

'Green Magic' Standard Heading Broccoli Seeds. Considered a heat tolerant, standard heading Broccoli with smooth Heads, classic green color and shape, extremely uniform. Absolutely delicious! 57 days to maturity.

CULTURE: Broccoli prefers a well-drained, fertile soil that is high in organic matter with a pH of 6.0–7.5. A consistent supply of moisture throughout the growing season is important; irrigate regularly for best results. Broccoli does not generally do well in hot weather. The best success is with spring and fall crops. WINTER CROP: Successful broccoli crops can be grown where winters are mild (temperatures rarely below 32°F [0°C]).

This ribbed cantaloupe is super disease resistant, very sweet, aromatic and full of flavor! Average 3-5 lb fruit. They prefer southern exposure and a light well drained soil as well as good soil moisture in early stages of growth, do not water the last week before the fruit is ripe. 

Unagi Cucumber, Long Asian Cross Cucumber Plant, Exceptional Quality cucumber delivers high yields of gorgeous long straight cucumbers that have a long shelf life! Preferring warmer soils, they can be planted directly into the ground after the last frost (wait for 70 degree soil temp). Sow at least 8 to 12" apart, 1/2" deep. A delicious and crisp variety with a 9 - 11" long cucumber (or shorter if harvested earlier). Absolutely delicious! 55-65 days to maturity. These do not need pollination to grow fruits.

First year for this as well, but just looks gorgeous and unique. Snow Leopard Honeydew is a cream variegated cream white and green fruit with a smaller, more personal size melon averaging a 2lb firm flesh and sweet fruit. Melons prefer southern exposure and a light well drained soil as well as good soil moisture in early stages of growth, do not water the last week before the fruit is ripe. 

Lemon Grass, Cymbopogon, Perennial Herb, Garden Herb and Insect Repellent, this  Multi-Use Grass-like Herb boasts a distinctive lemon flavor. Performs best in full sun, and can grow up to 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Stem bases/leaves are used in Thai, Vietnamese cuisine. Gorgeous multi-tasking herb garden plant or use around outdoor areas as an insect repellant. Just a gorgeous care-free helpful plant. Tender Perennial. Water regular until established and self sufficient.

I grew two trusty varieties of Flat Leaf Parsley, these are great for both cooking and for drying for winter use. Big Italy and Italian Essence will both act as a perennial, almost evergreen in our climate. These are happiest in the spring and as temperatures start to cool off, but tuck them away in your garden and you can use them throughout the summer months as well.

Grown by Memory Barrow,  a Columbiana Resident and Avid Gardner, these ornamental peppers are just too Hot! They look great in containers, each plant taking on its own shape. Pop them in a basket and they make great gifts handling both part sun to full sun water regular with good draining soil. Can withstand light frost.

Pretty Pink Petunias are the star of this sun to part sun planter.
