Handmade 'Living Artworks'
This is a new found love of mine, taking outdoor building materials and combining them into structural, functioning planters, utilitarian artworks that I have loosely coined, 'Living Artworks'. I want to create something that can both function and add a unique flare to your home, outdoor space and garden. The phrase I keep in my mind as I am designing, constructing and planting these Living Artworks, is 'My Favorite Thing I've Never Had', the Utilization of each piece or pair of artworks combined with easy care plants that surround you in your home and garden and hopefully eventually become one of your favorite things.
The above work, a set of three, is a new work for Eagle Construction's Conference Room. Other pairs and pieces were constructed for different purposes and needs. Hand-built and sculpted, a mixed media of sorts, this is a large set three mortar and patina graced with gorgeous white Orchids and Ferns . Due to the nature of the materials and the consideration of the spaces per design, each planter or pot takes on its own work becoming a one of a kind.

Loving the Look and Versatility of this new concept which serves as either a great table top planter or a functional bird bath. Drill a center hole or leave as is for a bird bath use. They love it because it is sturdy and natural feeling to them, graduating down into depth as well as a nice texture they trust with their feet. Honey Bees also love these as will as other pollinators. Just keep in a general spot for them to learn to trust its reliability and then get ready for some action! Just a great contemporary design and universal and timeless look! Made of outdoor building materials, a mixed media piece, this will last for years in your landscape. NO two are alike. Each one is custom made and finished uniquely to form its own life. Earth Pots
These were inspired by both mother nature and the growth pattern of Ornamental Kales, which I am obsessed with! This was an instance in design where the form followed the function of the giant headed flowering kales to show off their grand colors and structural impact by using multiple plants.
These planters can be used in all seasons with just about any shape or use of plants from an herb planter to perennial mixes to single specimen flowers. They can be used in groups as a bed of plants, raised gardening for vegetable plants allowing some to drape over the side. Just a fun multi-use planter that looks so natural while its contemporary modern lines and materials look good with everything. You could use a set of these to give a whole fresh look to an older home. They are very durable, withstand the elements and built to last for years of use.

Highly Sculptural Tall White staggered pair of Outdoor Planters. These are just gorgeous and look great wherever I've staged them for photographing. I filled them with cool hues of late summer heat thriving plants. From tallest to lowest, 'Baby Moses' Umbrella Grass, Rosemary shrub/herb, American Agave Cacti, Ajania pacifica, Dichondra 'Silver Falls', Blue Spruce Sedum.
I'm really excited about how these function and work together. It was fun to play around with the space between them and the way they interact with one another with the feminine and masculine details, the smaller coming forward a bit allowed them to nicely fit in a corner or small space, yet they are so bold, especially with this planting combination, that they could hold their own in an open area as a focal point.

Inspired by Old Baskets and the feel of old sheets hanging out to dry, these rectangular large planters have a woven basket look and feel with a vintage patina. Great outdoor pieces that will get better with age.

Set of Outdoor Bowls, Planters, Original Sculptural One of a kind set of three heavy duty bowls for use as planters or actual bowls for cut arrangements, outdoor decor, or even gorgeous just empty.
This is a new endeavor for me and a new found love of taking outdoor building materials, not just cement and sand, concrete, but all sorts of materials combine to make up these utilitarian art pieces. I want to create something that can both function and add uniqueness to your home and garden. These can be used as planters (I can drill drain holes or leave them solid), or actual bowls that could hold water for mixed floral arrangements, fruit bowls, anything you can think of to turn your outdoor space into a conversation piece.
These are the set to talk about with the mix and look of heavy durable concrete to light, cozy feeling of a textural blanket, hence the title 'Blanket Bowls'. They are surprisingly lightweight and will last for years outdoors. Probably the more you protect them from winter elements, the longer they will last, but I would love to see them with an outdoor patina of liken or moss as they age, especially if used as planters. They look great either way.
This is a set, but if you are interested in only one, I might consider. Just ask.
I would consider them large in scale and one could stand alone on a table setting. You could separate them as well on side tables, etc. If using for a party or outdoor dinner.
